A thank you for the 37th TANEC PRAHA festival
The international festival TANEC PRAHA, unique primarily in its breadth, has once again visited various corners of the Czech Republic. Specifically, not only did it take place in Prague, but also in 18 other cities and municipalities of the country. The programme in České Budějovice was particularly strong this year, given its upcoming European Capital of Culture status for 2028. Zlín was visited for the first time, and the now traditional locations of Pilsen, Brno, Ostrava, Hradec, or Choceň offered their audiences performances. Other municipalities also enjoyed various events: Broumov, Karlovy Vary, Kladruby, Liberec, Louny, Manětín, Pacov, Pyšely, Sušice, Varnsdorf, Volyně and Zlín.
Overall, the international and Czech artists performed 40 performances across 27 days. Alongside this, the festival offered more than 40 accompanying events, primarily the After Talks and workshops - meetings with artists have a large value for audiences. We have had artists from 12 countries and three continents, proving that dance has the power to connect, challenge preconceptions and to soothe the soul.
All of this would not be possible without significant support from the Czech state, the European Union and, last but not least, all the local and media partners, to whom we must offer a MASSIVE THANK YOU. The main role was undoubtedly played by the artists, but also by you, the audiences! The production and technical teams can tell stories of the effort and energy putting on such a festival takes, but also everyone who participated in the intensive campaign. Please allow a tip of the hat for all those involved, their work, patience, and undying enthusiasm.
Should this energy remain into the future, we have a lot to look forward to! We don’t even have to wait the full year, Ponec - the dance theatre, will open on the 21st of September for its 25th season. Don’t miss it.
