At this time of rapid change, there is an urgent need for professionalism, shared vocabulary, and a coherent conceptual framework that makes sense of the different ways in which viewers are involved. In DANCING MUSEUMS – The democracy of beings, individuals and organizations share, improve, develop and pass on the skills and knowledge needed to expand and deepen the connection and relationship with the audience. A practically led research group, composed of artists, dance organizations, museums and universities from seven countries, follows the new ways the presence of dance can offer an experience of art and cultural heritage, helping viewers and visitors engage both intellectually and spiritually. The knowledge and experience gained throughout the project will strengthen the organizations and artists involved with skills needed for the implementation of audience development projects well beyond the duration of the project.

The DANCING MUSEUMS – The democracy of beings project draws from the successful two-year project entitled Dancing Museums – Old Masters, New Traces (2015 – 2017). The project brought together five dance organizations and eight museums from five countries to explore new ways to engage viewers and emphasize the role of dance and live art in increasing our understanding of and engagement in art. The project is based on a relationship with the audience. This relationship has triggered the creative engagement of a wide and diverse intergenerational public (children, students, adults, seniors, people with disabilities, people from disadvantaged groups, researchers, staff of museums and dance venues).

The Prague International Workshop How Can We Embody the Artwork and the Art Space, and How Does It Change Our Perception? has got a new subheading How to be together when we can't be together? In regard to the current situation marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, the program of the workshop has been transformed to allow for attendance without the necessity of travelling physically to Prague.

In her research the artist Tereza Ondrová deals with the topic of tourism, how to "empty" the streets of the centre of Prague and "fill" the gallery space with people/visitors. The starting point is the "Royal Way" lining all six spaces of the Prague City Gallery.

The six-day meeting invites participants to join the artist and the teams of Tanec Praha and the Prague City Gallery to experience the transformation of the topic of tourism and the challenges of cooperation across all work roles within this project. 

The topic of "how to be together" arose when we cannot be together physically. How to collaborate and not just be in the online space? How to get to know each other and discover? How to ask questions and exceed your boundaries and possibilities? How to convey the customs, smells and tastes of our nation to all who cannot be here?

The workshop program consists of online and offline activities and invites participants to take part in the Shared Day, Audio Walk, Avatar Project, workshops, moderated discussions, working  sessions and a partners' meeting. The Dancing Museums exhibition gives the public a look into the three-year collaboration of Tanec Praha, Tereza Ondrová, Nina Jacques, Dominik Žižka and the Prague City Gallery, who participated in the pan-European research project of the same name.  

The global coronavirus pandemic has dramatically changed the lives of all research participants, as well as the project itself. Most of the activities have moved to some kind of virtual world, but in fact to our living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, to the deserted streets of our home cities.

The installation, which was created in collaboration with Kateřina Šedá, follows up on the international workshop in Prague How to Physically Design a Work of Art and Art Space and How Can This Experience Change Our Perception? with the secondary title How to be Together When We Can't be Together? Due to the persisting risks associated with the coronavirus pandemic, not all international artists and project partners were able to attend the workshop in person last June. It was necessary to find new, so far untested ways to present the project. Despite the challenging situation, the Tanec Praha team, in cooperation with Tereza Ondrová, Nina Jacques, Dominik Žižka and partners from the Prague City Gallery, successfully created an intensive six-day workshop, which connected work teams from all over Europe through online and offline activities. As part of the program, Kateřina Šedá led a workshop called Tourists, Welcome Home!, activating the participants in their own homes and inviting them to explore the familiar space in a new way. Participants turned into guides to their own apartment, house or room.

Kateřina Šedá's installation recalls the time of this virtual workshop and gives space for the physical meeting of Dancing Museums with the public.

In addition to the exhibition as part of the June TANEC PRAHA Festival, other Dancing Museums activities for the public will take place in the GHMP - Troja Chateau.

There will be two workshops Seeing by Moving and an open rehearsal Silent Mob. The workshop Seeing by Moving by Tereza Ondrová offers those interested an unconventional tour of the premises on June 16 and 17, always from 5 pm. The course of individual workshops differs.

The open rehearsal of the newly emerging project of choreographer Tereza Ondrová and director Petra Tejnorová Silent Mob is a reaction to the long-term state of the current pandemic between loneliness and sharing.
